Two years ago I took a series of analog photographs from the rooftop of my grandparents apartment at the International Hotel. After learning AAPI history and Chinatown origins; reimagining these rooftops has given me a new respect. Each building and detail are small windows into Asian American history.
Utilizing dynamic ink strokes to capture a moment of an intersection of Jackson and Kearny Street in San Francisco’s Chinatown. The monochromatic palette creates a sense of timelessness, emphasizing the architectural details and the energy of the urban landscape.
